From 1841 to 1850, heaven called a people to embrace the First Angel’s Message, flee Babylon through the Second Angel’s Message, and stand under the Third Angel’s Warning. But on April 15, 1904, the General Conference SDA **incorporated** in the District of Columbia as a man-made business structure under **EIN #52-0643036**. “The enemy of souls has sought to bring in the supposition that a great reformation was to take place among Seventh-day Adventists, and that this reformation would consist in giving up the doctrines which stand as the pillars of our faith... In Letter 242, October 1903, Ellen White warned: “Who has authority to begin such a movement? We have our Bibles... I tell you now, that when I am laid to rest [1827-1915], great changes will take place. I want the people to know that I warned them fully before my death.”

She wept that this act was like the rebellion of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram and likened the new structure to the Tower of Babel, a confused monstrosity God never ordained. James White and Joseph Bates both refused any human control over God’s work. John Loughborough declared:

“The first step of apostasy is to get up a creed, telling us what we shall believe... the second is to make that creed a test of fellowship; the third is to try members by that creed; the fourth to denounce as heretics those who do not believe that creed; and fifth, to commence persecution against such.”
